Serving the right drinks can add the right touch and contribute to your bridal shower’s success. When planning a bridal shower punch is always there, after all - what’s a good shower party without a punch?
Here are some things you should know, before making the punch:
Following punch Instructions
- Follow the recipes accurately.
- Mix all ingredients in the given order.
- If one of the ingredients is sparkling pour it last. (Champagne, sparkling wine, soda etc…)
Cold punch
- For cold punch use 'simple syrup' instead of sugar. Sugar can be hard to dissolve in cold liquids.
- Before making a cold punch - chill all ingredients. Don't rely on ice to chill the punch after it is mixed.
- Chill the punch bowl, too.

| | | Bridal shower ideas | | Posted Thursday, January 26, 2006 3:33:46 PM by Alex Molin | Bridal Showers have always been the most memorable part of a wedding. It is a fun party that allows the close family and friends of the bride to spend relaxed time with her before the big wedding day. Here are some ideas to help you plan a special shower:
Surprise showerConsidering surprising the bride to be? At least let us take this one idea out of your head: surprise shower is not wise. The rule is: before you do anything- ask the bride! Imagine hiring a stripper to show up at my bridal shower while the bride’s grandmother and mother are there. Can you imagine the embarrassment you can cause? Even if it is not that extreme you can create many disappointments if you don’t consult the bride like: forgetting to invite certain people or inviting people that will not be invited to the wedding. If you didn’t consult the bride regarding the needed gifts, this can also be a ... | |

| | | Hannah hurries into the world | | Posted Friday, January 05, 2007 1:22:14 PM by Blog57 Team | | ST. CATHARINES -- Kathryn Stromski was at the North Pelham home of her fiance, Jeremy Junkin, watching New Year's celebrations on television at around 3 a.m., when she first felt contractions. But rather than immediately have Junkin drive her to the hospital, Stromski decided to take a shower. After all, what's the hurry? Labour can last for hours. "I just took my time," Stromski said Monday morning from her hospital room. "We always read that a shower really relaxes you and it does. We were just cutting it kind of close." She had no idea just how close. Weighing in at six pounds 15 ounces a short three hours later at 6:12 a.m., Hannah Junkin became St. Catharines' first baby of 2007. Earlier in the morning before she went into labour, Stromski considered, but decided, against driving home to Fonthill, where she lives with her parents, Stan and Irene Stromski, who are now proud first-time grandparents.... | |

| | | Thelma Domenici: No shame in hosting baby shower | | Posted Sunday, November 12, 2006 11:21:55 PM by Blog57 Team | | Dear Thelma: My son's girlfriend of five years is pregnant. They eventually will be getting married, probably after the baby is born. She has asked me to have a shower for her and I gladly said yes. Now a co-worker has said it is inappropriate for a grandma to give a shower. Who is right? Answer: Contemporary etiquette does allow family members to host showers in celebration of the new life. You can feel perfectly correct in doing so. There was a time when it was not considered proper for a family member to host a shower. Because the point of a shower is to provide the honoree with gifts, it appeared self-serving if an immediate family member hosted. However, those ideas, and the rules along with them, have changed. Enjoy hosting the shower and the new grandchild. Dear Thelma: My son will be getting married out of town where his fianc‚e's family lives.... | |

| | | Paper view | | Posted Thursday, November 09, 2006 7:44:13 AM by Blog57 Team | | Strap hinge. Post-bound. Vellum, template, lignin free. Michele Zaiderman speaks the language of the paper crafter, and she is only too happy to help bring beginners up to speed. ‘‘People are very intimidated by the big blank page," says the Gaithersburg mom, a former elementary school teacher whose Beginning Scrapbooking class was held at Michael’s Craft Warehouse in the Kentlands. ‘‘They don’t know what to do. But you choose your photos, you choose your color theme. It doesn’t have to be chronological; it can be done through events, like Halloween." It’s simple, she says, to transform basement boxes of photos into beautifully embellished scrapbooks, and to create personalized holiday cards, invitations and thank you notes — regardless of how much talent you may or may not have.... | |

| | | On Wil's way to wear a cruel cut | | Posted Sunday, November 05, 2006 1:09:54 PM by Blog57 Team | | WHEN Wil Anderson was a schoolboy in East Gippsland, his report cards were alarmingly similar. "Wil will be fine as long as he stops trying to be funny all the time," was the recurring theme from his teachers, but the boy who grew up on a dairy farm to become one of Australia's best-known comedians simply couldn't kick the addiction to getting a laugh. His talent for joke-telling has seen 32-year-old Anderson jump from a promising career in journalism (he worked in the Canberra press gallery for a couple of years) to an even bigger one in comedy. After a few lean years on the Melbourne stand-up comedy circuit, Anderson got a gig as the co-host of Triple J's national breakfast radio program, which led to the chance 512 years ago to create his own TV satire show, The Glass House.... | |

| | | Honey do! Divvy up the household chores to maintain harmony | | Posted Thursday, November 02, 2006 11:39:46 AM by Blog57 Team | | Unless you received a butler as a wedding gift, you'll have just as much annoying housework as ever now that you're a newlywed. The good news? You have a partner in grime. Many of these tasks are duties you'll want to share, just be sure you have a schedule for switching off and that you stick to it. By laying it out all in advance, you'll avoid future blowups over unrequited chore expectations. BASIC NEEDS As you divvy up these chores, agree on what counts as having done the job - or you could be eating microwave popcorn every time it's your spouse's turn to "cook." Make breakfast You may barely have your eyes open, but someone's got to feed the family. Brew some coffee, throw in a Pop-Tart or fry up an egg - whatever's needed to power you both through the morning.... | |

| | | Football's female fanatics | | Posted Wednesday, October 25, 2006 7:23:13 PM by Blog57 Team | | FOXBORO - Lisa Harvey figures she was about 7-years-old, watching football with her father, when she first became a fan of the New England Patriots. Her loyalty to the home team swelled over the years, even while attending college in Virginia where she would constantly be assaulted by the fight song of the Washington Redskins. At her dorm, she frequently managed to commandeer the common television every Sunday to watch her team, and even had the rest of the dorm rooting on the Patriots by the end of the 1985 season.Upon her return, she would scramble every week during the season for tickets to the home games. Harvey said she secured season tickets in 1998, just as she moved to Baltimore for a job. She flew back for every game. Now, at 42, the Franklin resident is a full-blown fan. Her law office in Newton is a shrine to the team that has won three Super Bowl titles this decade.... | |

| | | Couple finds calling in restaurant business, makes use of remodeled church | | Posted Sunday, October 22, 2006 11:24:03 AM by Blog57 Team | | GRAVOIS MILLS, Mo. - Providing a menu of fine cuisine and a comfortable atmosphere are the two most important goals for Brad and Jean Vold, owners of the Olive Branch Restaurant here. Although they officially opened the doors 16 months ago, the Volds have more than 20 years of experience in the restaurant business.“This place has always been a work in progress," Jean said. “Every time someone comes in, they notice something different and that's the way we like it."The Olive Branch Restaurant is unique in a number of ways. Built in 1951, the building was the home of St. Patricks Catholic Church until 1977. When the church built its new location in Laurie, about six miles away, the doors were closed and the building sat empty for several years.“We had an eye on this building for a long time," Brad said.... | |

| | | Autumn in the air, bugs in the bath | | Posted Thursday, October 19, 2006 7:14:47 AM by Blog57 Team | | From my perch in the highest tower room at the Castle on the Hudson, it's easy to feel like Rapunzel, peering out through narrow window slits carved in thick stone walls at the distant river winding through the vast forest below, waiting for her prince to show up. The sight of cars on the New York Thruway dispels the fairy-tale illusion, reminding me that this medieval-style stone palace is actually a pricey hotel-cum-local-landmark in Tarrytown, N.Y., and my real-life prince, I hope, is driving one of those cars, on his way to meet me for a romantic autumn overnight getaway. With fall travel season in full swing, Castle on the Hudson is one of a number of luxury hotels and inns in scenic spots around the country for travelers who want to sightsee, watch the seasons change, and wine and dine in comfort without having to drive home afterward.... | |

| | | Plan a fabu Brew City bachelorette bash | | Posted Tuesday, October 17, 2006 1:15:43 PM by Blog57 Team | | In recent years, it's become acceptable to make the wedding shower a co-ed affair, but the bachelorette party is still ladies-only hullabaloo. Despite their racy reputation, bachelorette parties don't have to include strippers, penis-shaped party favors and ridiculous amounts of alcohol -- but they can and often do. However, keep in mind that there is an infinite number of ways to celebrate the bride-to-be's last hurrah, so why not make it as creative and unique as possible? Here are a few general things to consider when planning a bachelorette party: The bachelorette party is usually planned by the maid-of-honor, and it is perfectly acceptable, if not expected, that the other "maids" -- and even girlfriends not in the wedding party -- help out with planning and costs.... | |
