Bridal Shower Planning
Posted Thursday, January 26, 2006 3:32:32 PM by Alex Molin

If you are throwing a bridal shower for the first time you must be straggling with lots of questions. It is not an easy task and there are many details to remember.

There is even a greater challenge which is having to create a warm and comfortable atmosphere when, often, the guests do not know each other and have different ages and interests.

In spite of all that, planning a bridal shower should be a fun activity, after all, you are planning the shower for a close friend or relative and you want her to be pampered and showered with affection.

So, how do you make sure you don’t forget anything and still find a way to make your guests feel at home and involved so that the party will be a success?

The answer is simply – by planning ahead and taking into consideration some important issues.

Here are the main things you want to take into consideration during the planning:

Guest list

  • Make sure your guest list includes her closest friends
  • Make sure your guest list doesn’t include anyone who was not invited to the wedding.
  • Go over the guest list; learn who they are, their ages and their likes and dislikes. So you’ll know what to expect and what to prepare.

Just a day before Caroline Stone's wedding, there was an endless to-do list -- string lights in the reception hall, pick up tuxedos, hold a bridal lunch and make a 6 p.m. rehearsal and dinner. But Stone and groom Mitch Waldner, lifelong University of Kentucky fans, took a break yesterday to watch the Wildcats play in their first bowl game since 1999 -- even though it meant nervously glancing at their watches. ....

A Dunedin couple who were planning to get married on an iceberg off the east coast of New Zealand, have had their plans put on ice.The helicopter pilot who was due to fly Bridget Byers and Donald Wyatt, as well as a marriage celebrant, to one of the icebergs; says the job is now too risky as the icebergs are slowly thawing as they move north. He says it would be hard to find a safe place to land.It also seems there may have been legal difficulties. LONDON, Nov 11, 2006 (AFP) - A French couple on Saturday took part in what is thought to be Britain's first marriage blessing on ice, three years after their eyes crossed across a crowded rink.     Delphine Boury, 28, first met Nicolas Simoes, 25, when he deputised for former British figure skating Olympic champion Robin Cousins at a BBC Children in Need charity skating event in Norwich, eastern England, three years ago.     Simoes -- who was dressed in a giant teddy bear outfit at the time -- melted her heart, romance blossomed and they were married Saturday at a city church just minutes before taking to the ice again for a thanksgiving ceremony.     The couple, who have a 16-month-old daughter and now live and work in the city, were blessed by Reverend Peter Nokes at the EDF Energy Ice Rink at The Forum in Norwich in front of about 90 guests....

The actress says, "It was a beautiful Tuscan house and had these valleys and fields and llamas and I was like, 'Oh my god, this reminds me of Europe. I grew up in Europe. I drove up (to it) and I became the weepy bride." PHNOM PENH - A Cambodian wife was in custody after allegedly stabbing her husband to death as the two bickered over their daughters wedding and engagement schedule, police said on Tuesday. The police chief of Phnom Srouch district in southern Kampong Speu province, Toy Ton, said husband Chom Chun, 47, put his foot down and said his daughter should not take up a job at a garment factory now that she was engaged to be married but his wife, Kov Sokha, 44, disagreed, saying they needed the money. The father said the daughter should stay at home now she was ready to be someones wife and prepare for the wedding. Sokha objected, so he ignored her and started to eat his dinner, which is when she apparently stabbed him, Ton said. Contrary to reports that they were going to get hitched at George Clooney's Lake Como villa this month, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes will apparently be tying the knot next month, though Italy, in fact, will be the venue. According to Us Weekly (via MSNBC), the long-gestating wedding will not in fact be happening at the palatial villa Clooney owns, which you may remember from "Ocean's Twelve. "No weddings have taken place at [Clooney's] villa and no weddings are scheduled to take place there," says Clooney's rep. But it seems that Katie and Tom "both want everything to be right," says an Us source. "They needed more time." In fact, Holmes' new BFF Victoria Beckham flew with her on Oct. 7 from Paris to Italy to lend a hand with the planning. Cruise's rep is "not denying" the new date or location, though he's done the same thing with every other date and location, all of which have turned out to be false....

Kristen L. Wood and Marc A. Hahl did their best to pick a wedding day to accommodate everyone, with the rehearsal last night and the marriage and reception today. The Detroit Tigers, however, will be the elephant in the room at the couple's reception tonight at The Grand Banquet & Conference Center in Hampton Township. ''We worked around high-school homecomings and a few other things, but we didn't even consider the Tigers when making our plans,'' said Wood, 32, of Essexville, who plans to marry Hahl this afternoon at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Essexville. ''Who would have thought that the Tigers would be in the playoffs, period?'' Wood asked. ''I watched the game on Tuesday night against Oakland and the Tigers won easily....
