| Brides beware - tricky wedding hair | | Posted Monday, May 01, 2006 4:57:29 PM by Kate Grant | So you got your dress, you got your shoes and even decided on the bridal bouquet. All you need to do now, is discuss hair and makeup. There are wedding hair styles as many as there are brides to be.

An updo or a down do? Curls or straight? And what if your hair is short? Or long, and you want it to stay that way without the hair stylist pulling a fast one on you, cutting it way too short?
Here are some ideas to make your hair, and you, shine on the special day:
Try to consult more than one stylist for a trial run.
If you color your hair or perm it, remember to do it a few weeks in advance, allowing hair to be more relaxed, and fix problems, should they happen.
If you plan to wear your hair in a tight updo, try to fix it as close to the ceremony as you can, otherwise you'll develop a nasty headache, and we don't want that, now do we?
Try on as many accessories as you like, as long as you don't use too many at once. Sometimes a simple tiara or a small diamond hair pin is all it takes to make you a princess.

| | | Religion and Faith | | Posted Saturday, December 09, 2006 1:19:17 PM by Blog57 Team | | I'd usually rather have a good book (or a good argument) than a good party or a good t.v. show. And, as time goes on, I'm feeling rather less tolerant of other people's demands. I've always been a very self-contained person, happy in my own company. Now, I've decided to take it a step further, possibly to its logical conclusion, and become a very selfish person. If I don't look out for me, who will? When my nephew was little he transitioned from day care to kindergarden, and we talked to him about going to his new school. He wanted to know what came after that. We explained about grade school, then high school, and maybe college. Then he wanted to know how long all of that would take, and what happened after that. We talked about how many years that all would take, and maybe graduate school, and then getting a job.... | |

| | | A young man's faith gives hope to those who mourn him | | Posted Sunday, November 12, 2006 3:46:57 AM by Blog57 Team | | Dustin was a tall young man topped by a head of thick, curly brown hair. He was well known for his humility, kindness, outlandish sense of humor and desire to be like Jesus. Dustin had met the girl of his dreams, a cute, shy jazz singer named Rachael. He adored this young woman and began pursuing her with honor and kindness. Rachael's family and friends quickly grew to love Dustin for treating her so well. When I first met Dustin and Rachael, they were the picture of joy, holding hands, smiling broadly and rushing into the church for premarital Bible study. As their wedding day approached, Dustin broke out with a rash on his hand. The doctor gave him a salve and expected it to go away quickly. When it did not, he was sent to a specialist, where he was given shocking news: This rugged, healthy young man had leukemia.... | |

| | | Bomber kills 15 at wedding party | | Posted Wednesday, November 01, 2006 7:31:11 AM by Blog57 Team | | Baghdad/Tikrit : A suicide car bomber struck a wedding party in Baghdad yesterday afternoon, killing 15 people, including four children, and wounding 19 others, police reported. The bomber drove an explosives-rigged sedan into a crowd of Shiite celebrants outside the bride's home in the northeastern Sha'ab neighbourhood at 4.50pm, police Lieutenant Ahmad Mohammad said. Weddings and funerals are often public events in Iraq, making them relatively easy targets for suicide bombers hoping to spark reprisal attacks from Sunnis and push Iraq into a full-blown civil war. Five other children were among those hospitalised for their injuries, said Dr Qasim Al Suwaidi of the nearby Al Sadr hospital. Many of the wounded children suffered burns over much of their bodies.... | |

| | | Open-air coach | | Posted Monday, October 30, 2006 1:36:17 PM by Blog57 Team | | Sometimes little things count for a lot, too. Although Jay and I opted for a traditional, Catholic church wedding on June 3, we tried to come up with some nontraditional details to complement it. One of the most memorable parts of that day was our ride from the church to the reception. Considering everything that happens on the day of a wedding, the ride was a small thing -- and yet it was huge. Friends and family hooted and hollered at Jay and me when we hopped into his dad's 1973, turquoise-blue, Cadillac Eldorado convertible. Some of the guests, with perplexed looks on their faces, asked me, "Are you sure you don't want to put the top up?" .... | |

But according to the show biz gossip site TMZ.com, there's also lots of talk about Katie's parents -- who are said to be "outraged." TMZ says Katie's family may be "threatening a last-minute boycott" of the big day if Katie nixes a Catholic ceremony in favor of one in the Church of Scientology. Follow the link below to cast your vote in the poll that asks if Katie's parents should boycott the wedding. When we checked in, 59% said yes, but the votes are still being collected (and the results are anything but scientific).
