| Bridal Shower Gifts | | Posted Thursday, January 26, 2006 3:31:04 PM by Alex Molin | Your friend is getting married and you want to give her a special gift but what?
Most brides to be register before their shower, though this isn’t always the case. You can rest assured that if you purchase bridal shower gifts from a bridal registry the bride to be will be pleased.
But what if this is a good friend and you want your gift to be more personal?
Just because the bridal shower is about helping the new couple start a household, doesn’t necessarily mean they need household items; they could be living together for a long time by now so they probably have most items.
Here are some ideas and options:
Where to start looking for a gift?
- First check if there is a theme for the shower. Your gift can be related to this theme and the process of finding a gift will be a lot easier.
- The internet has simplified and added convenience to our lives in so many ways so why not use it to search for a special gift? The only problem now is that you have so many wonderful options to choose from.
Some gifts ideas?
- In case there is no theme a good choice would be some pampering products including body scrubs, lotions and mini spa treatment items.
- How about a gift certificate for a day spa massage?
- A very unique gift would be naming a star after the couple’s name? Don’t worry it won’t co...

| | | What can you bring as a shower present? | | Posted Wednesday, January 25, 2006 5:59:09 PM by Alex Molin |

Bridal shower is a very traditional custom which was created to allow the friends and family of the bride and groom to give them traditional gifts to start their home.
The main aim was to equip the bride with everything she would need to be a good wife and mother. But today's bride is different. The average bride is a full-time professional with a college degree and many hobbies that focus out side the house and especially out side the kitchen.
In spite of that, some still think that even the modern bride would be thrilled to receive a house warming present. After all it takes time and money to get all those things needed for the house.
Others think it is time to stop thinking traditionally (unless you know she really needs that mixer), and get more creative. You can be sure she will receive plenty of traditional presents such as a set of undergarments (which is not really for the bride) or lots of bubble bath, bath salts and shower gels.
So, if you want to be creative, what can you bring as a shower present?
- Give her the gift of a special memory. You probably have noticed that some scents have a way of bringing us back to special moments in our lives. Why don’t you buy her a really expensive perfume? Something she would never buy for herself. On the card suggest that she will wear it on her wedding day and then on special occasions afterwards, so the scent will always be connected to her wedding, to romance, to love and to you – the one who got her the present. (Don’t forget to make sure you know what kind of scents she likes, otherwise most likely your expensive bottle will find its place deep in the wardrobe for ever).
- How about purchasing a ceramic guestbook platter for the wedding. The kit comes with a platter, a special marker and instructions. After the event, wrap it up in its original packaging and return it to the store for glazing. It will be shipped directly to the bride and groom.
- You can also buy mugs and jewelry boxes that can be signed by all the girls at the shower. What an awesome gift!
- A basket with two matching robes with their initials on them, a bottle of wine with two glasses, and an envelope for the two of them to go to the spa before their wedding to help them relax before the big event.
- Want to combine traditional with the creativeness? A "picnic backpack" for the active bride-to-be, found at any kitchen store. The bride can combine her mountain climbing hobby with a romantic picnic with her love.

Recently posted on the internet, the leaked 10-minute clip has provided ammunition for opponents of the military regime, who say that spending on the couple's marriage in July was more than three times the state health budget. In the most opulent sequence the camera zooms in on glittering jewelled clusters in the hair of the bride, Thandar Shwe, then pans down from her diamond ear-studs to at least six thick strings of what appear to be diamonds. At a lavish reception the groom, Major Zw Phyo Win, an army officer and deputy director at the ministry of commerce, pours champagne over a cascade of glasses and helps his bride slice into a five-tiered cake. What is not seen are the gifts, which reportedly include luxury cars and houses worth a total of $50-million.... | |

| | | Echo boomers driving wedding business | | Posted Wednesday, November 01, 2006 3:19:44 AM by Blog57 Team | | The percentage of households in America may have fewer married couples, but the amount of money spent on weddings is growing 25 percent faster than the gross domestic product. That's one of the findings in a report on the wedding industry by The Mercanti Group, a Minneapolis-based financial advisory firm. The average cost of a wedding has nearly doubled since 1990, from $15,000 to more than $27,000 -- and that doesn't count the honeymoon, rings and gifts. The $100 billion wedding industry is expected to grow, said the report, partly because a new demographic bubble is about to reach marriageable age: the Echo Boomers -- the offspring of the baby Boomers. Newlyweds these days tend to be older and more affluent. The average bride is 27 and the groom is 29. Their average household income is $74,000.... | |

| | | 'The Mikado,' an operatic treat from Intermountain Opera | | Posted Wednesday, October 18, 2006 7:10:46 AM by Blog57 Team | | Richard Clifford gets a mischievous twinkle in his eye when he talks about the Intermountain Opera Association's fall production, Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Mikado."He should. "The Mikado" has been delighting audiences young and old since its 1885 debut in New York City. It's filled with the beauty, humor and pageantry that made Gilbert and Sullivan among the most popular musical forces in history. Clifford -- a veteran British actor and director with dozens of credits ranging from feature films to acclaimed productions of the Royal Shakespeare Company in London -- will be directing "The Mikado" in Bozeman this weekend. For him, it's a chance to do what he does best."You need to capture the essence and the elements, to make the piece alive, and not just be a series of sound bites," Clifford said.Inside the darkened Wilson School Theater, bathed in the sounds of a singer warming up, helping the crew put final touches on sets, timing and lighting, Clifford is bringing that essence to the surface.... | |
