Posted Thursday, January 26, 2006 3:29:04 PM by Alex Molin

The centerpiece is a very important element in the decorations. It grabs the eye immediately, helps to set the right atmosphere and can be related to a theme.

There are many options you can choose from. Here are some ideas:

Candles centerpieces

  • Floating candles in little bowls is the most common candle centerpiece, but very nice and elegant. If you want it to be a bit more unique, put, in the bottom of the bowls, little strands of pearls in the wedding colors and put gold wrapped Hershey kisses on the tables. Make sure the bowls are heat resistant so they won’t break.
  • Candle and Mirrors – buy mirrors then place crystal candle holder with a white candle with ivy and small pearls wrapped around the candle and around the candle holder.
  • Candles in hurricane lamps with silver foil doilies and Hershey's kisses instead of confetti.
  • Take two medium brandy snifters and one large brandy snifter. Fill the bottom with colored marbles about 1/3 way up. Fill with water and float a candle. Have flowers around the base of the snifter. Very inex...

Although a wedding is supposed to be the happiest time of your life, planning it can be one of the most stressful. Knowing where to begin is the first step to an unforgettable occasion. According to an article in the Winter 2007 issue of InStyle Weddings magazine, as soon as a couple is engaged, they should decide on a budget and decide the basics of the wedding. This includes deciding if the wedding will be formal or informal and the time of day. The book "The Very Best Wedding Planning Guide" by weddingsolutions.com suggests that hiring a wedding consultant may be worth the money. A consultant can do as much or as little as is needed, and can save the couple money and stress. A consultant generally charges anywhere between $500 and $10,000 for their services....

It was en route to an auction in Los Angeles benefiting Making Memories, which grants wishes of women dying from breast cancer. The thieves who made off with a 40-foot trailer from a Scottsdale hotel parking lot may have believed they were stealing a vintage race car, a speed boat or something similarly expensive. However, what they stole was more than 1,000 donated wedding gowns and bridal accessories - about $3 million in merchandise set to be sold by an Oregon non-profit organization to raise money for breast-cancer victims. Fran Hansen, co-founder and executive director of Making Memories, told Scottsdale detectives she awoke early Sunday morning to find the trailer and white 2006 Ford F-350 pickup missing from the parking lot of Country Inn and Suites, near Shea Boulevard and Loop 101. ....

LOS ANGELES A heartless thief had them down. But charity officials are hardly out, just days after a trailer full of wedding gowns was stolen. Donations are pouring in to the group called Making Memories. It sells donated wedding gowns to raise money, which is then used to grant the dying wishes of women with breast cancer. Two-thousand dresses and accessories were in a truck parked at an Arizona hotel when they were stolen last weekend. Since word got out, both big wedding gown chains as well as smaller stores have pitched in, along with women who had their gowns in the closet. Making Memories managed to replace what it lost. The dresses will be auctioned off this weekend in West Hollywood. Copyright 2006 Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed....

Divine designs

For Shannon Taylor, inspiration breathes from everything that surrounds her. The colors of the landscape as she drives through town. A peacock feather. But when she looks, its not the tree or the feather Taylor sees. She visualizes the feather as a focal point for a necklace. She imagines the way the vivid colors in the landscape would play off each other in a necklace or bracelet. The images are fleeting, and Taylor quickly jots them down. Then, when she sits back down at her worktable, she reads through her list. Thats where the real fun comes, she said taking an idea and challenging herself to transform it into something tangible. On Wednesday, Taylor sat at a small folding table in her garage. Plastic drawers full of crystals, glue, metal pieces and plastic string line the workspace where she spends hours hand-crafting jewelry for her company Got Toe Rings? Taylor designs each piece whether toe ring, necklace, bracelet or cell phone charm from scratch....

Bridal consultant uses insight

Sometimes Antonetta For-zano feels like a psychiatrist. Mostly, though, she's a consultant and seamstress. As owner of Special Occasions & Bridals by Antonetta in Fishkill, Forzano helps brides and their parties select wedding gowns that she then tailors according to each customer's needs. "A wedding is something special," Forzano said. "You have to understand and work it." Forzano helps brides-to-be choose their wedding gowns by first discussing their tastes and looking at available style options. Some customers, she said, know what they want, while others don't. And some try on gowns in styles they like, only to discover they aren't happy with the way the dresses look on them. Fortunately, Forzano's experienced eye can help. "They come in because of who you are, they figure you know what they need," Forzano said of her customers....

This Halloween, Look for Pregnant Stars and a Drunk Paris

This Halloween, Taylor Hicks, the Jolie-Pitts and the TomKat family will hang out with a boozed-up Paris Hilton at a party near you. More and more people are choosing to spend All Hallows Eve dressed like — and mocking — those in the limelight, retailers say. "Everyone is always trying to look like a celebrity," said Julie Yarsawich of EvesAddiction.com, a Web site that feeds the public's demand for celeb knockoff jewelry around Halloween-time. Indeed, accessories are a major part of the ever-growing celeb-based costume market. For example, the Paris Hilton 2006 costume differs from the Paris Hilton 2005 costume because instead of a stuffed Chihuahua and massive diamond, the newest incarnation is characterized by a margarita and a mug shot....
